Life Insurance? - Your rights
If you are refused life insurance,
or you are made to pay higher-than-normal premiums on
medical grounds, your name may be recorded on the ‘Impaired
Lives Register’. Under the Data Protection Act,
you are allowed to see the entry made in your name.
If your own doctor has prepared a report on you for
the life insurance company, you have the right to see
this. But if you go to a doctor nominated by the insurance
company, it is up to the company whether you can see
the report or not.
